THE RELEVANCE OF CLASSICAL METHODS TO CHARACTERISE THE HYDROPHOBIC POROUS MEMBRANES USED IN THE PROCESS OF OSMOTIC EVAPORATION

Résumé

In osmotic evaporation, the membrane is often considered passive as it provides a support for the vapor-liquid interfaces where evaporation and condensation take place. The mass transfers as well as the non wetting condition depend on the membrane structure, but the conventional characterisation methods do not always provide adequate information.
